For humankind, reasoning came before awareness.
Cities as we know them now are based upon reason, not humanness.
As a consequence, they are bound to collapse.
In a city, design and architecture play vital roles. Frequently it is not about what is built, but rather about what is not built. Superior sushi depends not on what is put in but on what is left out.
Design and architecture that are sustainable, mindful, and responsible or better said, human, is the answer to finding a true solution to current problems.
It is here that Taller 13’s contribution lies.
Sustainable buildings are City; picnics are City; Trueques workshops are City; the Axolotl built for Burning Man is City.
But in contrast to the cities we are used to, all of the examples mentioned are part of Ciudades más humanas (more humane cities).
